Happy Labor Day

Art or Work?

Art or Work?

What do you consider work?

If you love what you do or your vision of what you are creating is bigger than yourself it is said that you never work a day in your life.

I LOVE what I do and I am proud to say that I am a hard worker. I was brought up to believe that hard work was something to be proud of and that it could yield a life of abundance and happiness if applied correctly. So laboring hard has always been part of my DNA.

My goals for my WORK – to work hard at the things that make my heart sing, to work hard to design amazing spaces that are sacred, to work hard to change the things that I do not believe best support the world, to work hard to help as many people as possible, to work hard to make sustainability the norm, to work hard to share as much of my gifts with others as possible while I am alive, to work hard at being the best person I possibly can and to work hard on all my loving relationships.

Labor Day celebrations to me are about taking a moment to review what you consider your WORK and to reflect if it adds VALUE to the world at large.

Like this cluster of artwork by a Client’s Mother. She never considered painting as WORK, however it was a process that resulted in the creation of something. Sounds very much like the definition of work to me. The big difference is that she considered her painting as a labor of love instead of work. Just a different perspective.

My wish for you this Labor Day 2013, is that all of your WORK is always a Labor of Love.
