New Build Townhouse
Boerum Hill, Brooklyn
The Gunnell family had grown sufficiently for them to require a larger space, and they found the perfect space - a classic, modern and spacious urban townhouse in the heart of Brooklyn. They recognized the property as an exemplary model of modern urban design through the subtle reference to the historic elements of the area, with a creative contemporary spin.
Luke and Terri had already experienced the holistic design approach with S. Lee Wright Ltd during their previous apartment renovation in Brooklyn Heights in 2003 and knew that her touch was required to do the finishing touches to their new home, so it would be a reflection of their own unique sense of style and the warmth of them as a family.
The resulting palette dramatically altered the feeling of the space, while still emphasizing the architectural drama of the space. Lee designed a complex palette which traveled throughout all four floor of the space, allowing each one to stand alone, while all working together in one cohesive manner. The final color scheme included over (25) paint colors and multiple wall papers, inclusive of a luxurious hand-made silver leaf paper for the atrium area. Plus the designer selected different fabrics for each room's flat roman shades to further add warmth and texture to the space.
The end result was a beautiful urban space that was a true reflection of the inhabitants - a modern family with genuine warmth, a touch of spice and multi-layered depth and texture.
