Residential

Decoration/Custom Millwork
Greenwich Village, New York

The duplex apartment consisted of floors on the ground/street level and the lower garden level in the heart of Greenwich Village. The apartment had the right bones however the location of the floors presented some intrinsic challenges. The Designer's vision was to enhance the existing bones and distract from the not-so-desirable aspects such as low ceilings, minimal natural light, and a lack of privacy.

Lee created a design concept to create a sense of a Forest Interior, allowing the warmth and natural aspects of the forest to take the lead in the design from the palette, to the choice of materials, furnishings and the lighting. All elements linked together in a cohesive fashion to create the desired ambience of a forest interior.

Some touches of whimsy were added, such as stenciled Swallows flying into the window of the library and bronze butterfly handles on the living room cabinets, created a cozy home reflecting the young, diverse and successful couple.

Also, the wife's criteria to add as much storage as possible for her clothes, was done with such precision by the Designer that the price of the property was doubled once the construction was completed!
